In the beginning...
The Lacuna Collection is the sister company to Funding invoice, which was established in 2015 by Aamar Aslam, a Warwick university economics graduate who identified the need for an alternative ethical funding provider for SMEs. Increasingly his ever-expanding client-list included many fledging and established fashion brands, who inevitably had to juggle the financial peaks and troughs associated with paying international suppliers and awaiting payments from large retailers.
Aamar realised that whilst fashion designers and brands were focusing on creating and innovating, they often lacked support in running the daily business – areas such as finances, logistics, D2C strategy and inventory management.
It was in 2017 that Aamar partnered with long term college friends, Leeds graduate Liv Khan and fellow Economist Kautham Haran to create The Lacuna Collection.
